Notice yourself change across years, not weeks.
Write a handful of questions you’ll ask yourself every year. Answer them on a date you choose. You only read past years after you’ve written this one — so the record stays honest. Year by year, a private archaeology of who you were.
Free for up to 3 questions · €4.99 once for the full ritual · no subscription · Family Sharing on.

How Strata works
-
1
Write your questions
A handful of questions worth asking once a year — what are you proud of, what are you afraid of, what changed your mind. You write them; they’re yours. Nothing is generated for you, because the asking is the point.
-
2
Answer on your date
Pick the day that means something — a birthday, a new year, the start of spring. Strata reminds you when it comes around, you sit down, and you answer. One question at a time.
-
3
Read the record
Only after you’ve written this year do last year’s answers unseal — so today’s you isn’t coloured by who you were. Each question becomes a column of years, this year newest on top, like layers of rock.
Built for a record you’ll keep for a decade
- Everything stays on your iPhone. No account, no servers of ours, nothing uploaded. App Store privacy label: Data Not Collected.
- Written by you, not a model. Strata never generates a question or an answer. The words are yours, which is the only thing that makes them worth re-reading in ten years.
- The ritual remembers itself. Strata schedules an annual reminder on your chosen date, so the rhythm holds even for an app you open once a year.
- One purchase, then nothing. A subscription on something you touch once a year would be absurd. You buy it once and the record is yours.
- A real person answers. Email reaches the studio behind the app — no chatbot, no deflection maze.
Free for up to three questions, so you can feel the ritual before you pay. €4.99 once lifts the cap and keeps every year of the record.
- Unlimited questions
- Every year of your answers, kept
- The annual reminder, on your date
- Family Sharing · no subscription, ever
Honest answers
Why only once a year?
Because that’s the cadence where change is visible. A daily journal shows you the weather; a yearly one shows you the climate. The payoff is re-reading a decade of answers to the same question — and that only exists if you answer slowly.
Why can’t I read past years first?
So this year’s answer is honest. If you re-read last year before writing, you’d echo it. Strata withholds the past until you’ve committed today’s words — then it unseals the whole record at once.
Does Strata write the questions for me?
No. There is no AI, no template you have to accept. You author the questions and the answers yourself. The authorship is the ritual — a generated prompt would be someone else’s record, not yours.
Where is my record stored?
On your iPhone, and nowhere else. There’s no account, no cloud of ours, and nothing leaves the device. See the privacy page for the full, short story.
One-time? Really?
Really. €4.99 once, no subscription. Charging monthly for something you open once a year would be incoherent — and a little insulting. Free covers up to three questions; the one-time unlock lifts the cap.
